The Farm
Lower Hurst Farm is a 260 Acre organic farm. The farm is in the Peak District National Park, on the River Dove. Our herd of pedigree Hereford cattle, wonderful producers of high quality traditional English marbled beef, has been established at the farm since 1989 and we have had sheep on the farm since 1984. All the meat is from animals born and bred here at Lower Hurst.
From Field to Plate
After slaughter at our local organic abattoir, the sides of beef and lamb are returned to the farm to hang for 21 days in our cold stores to allow the meat to mature properly. After butchering, each cut is then packed, labelled, and blast frozen to preserve the meat in this prime state. Our labels show the animal ID and the date of slaughter, offering total traceability to customers. Every item we sell is home reared on the farm.
Some of our customers prefer to buy meat from us fresh and this can of course be arranged. Please just call us on 01298 84900 and we will be happy to help. If nobody is available to take your call please leave a message and we will get back to you.
